Preparing your trip

Dear all

I believe you guys are really excited about this trip and you all are ready for it. Before you go for this wonderful amazing trip, there are some tips for you guys:

1) Thai Greetings preparation

2) Thai Culture & Customs

3) Thai Mosquito Biting Habit

4) Thai Water Taste

How to say Hello in Thai ?

For Men - sawat-dee krab

For Women - sawat-dee ka

How to say Thank You in Thai?

For Men - Khob Khun Krab
For Women - Khob Khun Kha

Thai Culture & Customs - The culture of Thailand incorporates a great deal of influence from India, China, Cambodia, and the rest of Southeast Asia. It is influenced primarily by Buddhism, as well as by large scale immigration from China, and to a lesser extent, from India.

One of the most distinctive Thai customs is the wai, which is similar to the Indian namaste gesture. Showing greeting, farewell, or acknowledgment, it comes in several forms reflecting the relative status of those involved, but generally it involves a prayer-like gesture with the hands and a bow of the head.

Physical demonstrations of affection in public are common between friends, but less so between lovers. It is thus common to see friends walking together holding hands, but couples rarely do so except in westernized areas.
A notable social norm holds that touching someone on the head may be considered rude. It is also considered rude to place one's feet at a level above someone else's head, especially if that person is of higher social standing. This is because the Thai people consider the foot to be the dirtiest and fattest part of the body, and the head the most respected and highest part of the body. This also influences how Thais sit when on the ground—their feet always pointing away from others, tucked to the side or behind them. Pointing at or touching something with the feet is also considered rude.

Thai Mosquito Biting Habit - They love to bite your arms, legs and mostly between your toes. Therefore, mosquito repellent is a MUST item to bring!!!

Thai Water Taste - The taste of Thai water is very different compare with France, Of Course. Please do not expect the taste of Evian or Perrier, Thai water taste a bit salty but I believe for all Frenchies will never taste the differences because they do only drink Wine and Beer, so they will never have a chance to taste the real Thai water :p

Back from Hua Hin - Pranburi - Kui Buri

We just came back from Hua Hin ... weather was too hot, sea water was too warm ... it is such a pain to organize a wedding in these extreme conditions ...

As per our promise, here are some more information:

- 6 hotels have been pre-booked,
- 4 of them are walking distance from each other, near Pranburi
- 1 is little bit further (5 min driving), still near Pranburi
- 1 is almost 1 hour drive from the others: it is the one where the reception will take place. It is located about 15 Km south Kui Buri

We visited 3 churches (Hua Hin, Pranburi and Prachuapkhirikan ... hum!): the celebration will take place in one of the last two churches but we cannot tell which one yet. Pranburi would be more convenient for people staying near Pranburi since they will be able to go back to their hotel before joining the cocktail but it depends on the priest.

We will organize transportation so that people will be able to leave the party whenever they want.

We still have a lot to do but we are fixing details one by one. Soon we will ask you to book your room but again, wait for us to get back to you on that matter.

Finally, we suggest that people coming from France start booking their plane ticket from now ...
For Honkies, we are still negotiating group tickets. Let us know when are you planning to fly exactly.

One foot in Thailand and no worry about the present political situation: it is in Bangkok only and the problem will be fixed by November.

Smile!

Nous avons visite 3 eglises (Hua Hin, Pranburi and Prachuapkhirikan ... atchoum!)

Sourriez !
